KPK Researches Medan Court`s Office after Releasing Chief

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - KPK investigators did another search at the Medan District Court Office (PN) on Wednesday night, August 29. The search began at 23:00 and ended the next morning at 06:00.
"There were four investigators from the KPK who came and brought search warrants," Medan District Court's PR chief Erintua Damanik said on Thursday afternoon.
The search was carried out in connection with a bribery case by Tamin Sukardi, who allegedly bribed the court's ad-hoc judge Merry Purba. the KPK had named both people suspects.

So far, investigators have confiscated at least 30 items of evidence including electronic copies, an iPhone, an electronic storage device, a bundle of decisions letters by the Medan District Court's chief, a special decree regarding the appointment of judges, and a bundle of decrees concerning the determination of permanent judges and substitute registrars.
"All of these came from the Court chief's desk," Erintua said.
The KPK held a sting operation on Tuesday, August 28, at the Medan District Court. In addition to Merry Purba and Tamin Sukardi, the KPK also named two other people as suspects; Medan District Court's clerk, Helpandi and Tamin's right-hand man Hadi Setiawan.
The KPK released the Head of Medan District Court, Marsuddin Nainggolan and his deputy Wahyu Prasetyo Wibowo. Both were also arrested during the sting operation but were let go due to lack of incriminating evidence in the alleged bribery for fixing court rulings.
