TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The convicted murderer of human rights activist Munir, Pollycarpus Budihari Priyanto, was fully freed today, August 29, after serving 14 years prison sentence.
Vice President Jusuf Kalla commented on the freedom of Pollycarpus. “Go ahead if [the release] is in accordance with the rules,” he said at Balai Kartini, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 29.

Pollycarpus was previously found guilty of involvement in the murder of human rights activist Munir Said Thalib. Munir died on a flight to the Netherlands on September 7, 2004. The Netherlands Forensic Institute found 460 milligrams of arsenic in his body.
Pollycarpus was convicted by the court and sentenced to 20 years in prison. He submitted a plea in 2014 and the Supreme Court granted the request and reduced his sentence to 14 years.
Pollycarpus served a prison sentence of 8 years and 11 months. He was released on parole in 2014. The former Garuda Indonesia pilot had a mandatory report to West Java Regional Office of the Law Ministry.
