TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo demanded every region allocate budget on disaster mitigation in the Regional Budget (APBD) as to anticipate disaster in the future.
“Many regions have not yet prepared the budget for disaster mitigation such as a flood, volcano eruption, earthquake, and others,” said Tjahjo Kumolo after handing out aids for Lombok quake victims at the West Nusa Tenggara governor office, Mataram, Tuesday, August 28.
Tjahjo Kumolo asserted the central government maintained its commitment to mitigating disaster in NTB and encouraged other regions to provide hands.
“We have sent letters of a legal protection to the regions since they want to donate [for Lombok victims] so the aids will be collected through one door, while foods are already piled up,” he said.
President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo earlier ratified a Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 5/2018 on the rehabilitation and reconstruction quake-torn Lombok, NTB.
“The Inpres No. 5/2018 basically supports [the mitigation process]. Let's all move -governors, regents, majors- let’s work together. NTB disaster is our disaster in Indonesia, its pain is our pain, so the government and privates give help,” Tjahjo said.
