TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A senior musician Fariz Rustam Munaf or Fariz RM was arrested for drug possession on Friday morning, August 24. North Jakarta Police Narcotics Unit nabbed the famous singer of Barcelona and Sakura while possessing 0.9 grams of methamphetamine.
"0.5 grams [of drugs] in the back pants pocket and 0.4 grams in the left front," said Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr.Argo Yuwono in a press conference at North Jakarta Police Headquarters, Sunday, August 26.
Argo explained Fariz was arrested when he was riding his motorcycle near his residence in Pondok Aren, South Tangerang, Friday morning at around 09:45 local times. The police then searched Fariz's home and found additional evidence, namely nine Xanax tablets, two Dumolid tablets, and one methamphetamine suction tools.
Fariz RM had been caught twice for drug abuse case. The police arrested Fariz RM during a raid in Jakarta, October 28, 2007. He was tested positive for using marijuana. On October 10, 2008, South Jakarta District Court sentenced Fariz RM to 8 months imprisonment.
One day after celebrating his 56th birthday, Fariz RM was again arrested by South Jakarta Police when he was using drugs alone. Police seized several packages of drugs and sent him to a narcotics rehabilitation center in Lebak Bulus.
