TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned steel producer Krakatau Steel and sheet metal industries sent 20 tons sheet metal to Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), in response to the series of earthquakes that recently struck the region.
Other than to fulfill the needs of metal production in the area, it is also aimed to stabilize the price of sheet metal in the region.
Krakatau Steel Marketing Director Purwono Widodo said that the company collaborated with several sheet metal producers and distributors such as PT Fumira, Inti Sumber Baja Sakti, and Kepuh Kencana Arum from Sunrise Group to provide the metal sheets.

“There are 7,500 metal sheets that will be distributed to the NTB provincial government to be used as the material for light steel roofs,” said Purwono in Jakarta on Friday, August 24.
The batch of metal sheets has been sent to NTB by an Airbus A400M Atlas, which is a support air transport from the French government tasked especially to handle the Lombok disaster mitigation.
He explained that the price of sheet metal had skyrocketed immediately because there were many metal shops that were either damaged or closed caused by the Lombok earthquake.
