TEMPO.CO, JakartaYouth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi has given a Rp1.5 billion bonus to Indonesian taekwondoin Defia Rosmaniar who won the country's first gold medal in the Asian Games 2018. The minister symbolically handed over the bonus to Defia at the Youth and Sports Ministry on Monday.

"Congratulations to Defia (on your success). The Rp1.5 billion bonus will be transferred to you after the Asian Games 2018 is over, probably in October 2018," he said.

In addition to cash bonuses, the government has also prepared bonuses in other forms for athletes who contribute gold medals to the Indonesian contingent. Civil service employment and houses would also be made available.

"We have prepared all of them," Nahrawi said.

He expressed hope that Defia's success will inspire other Indonesian athletes who are now competing in various sporting events at the Asian Games 2018. He called on all athletes to not be discouraged, afraid and worried.

"The entire Indonesian nation support and pray for you," he said.
