Lombok Quake; 7,000 Foreign Tourist Evacuated from Gili Trawangan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security, Wiranto, said that 7,000 foreign tourists had been evacuated from the tourist area of Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno after the Lombok earthquake.
“The latest report is 7,000 foreign tourists,” he said while observing the evacuation process in Bangsal Port, North Lombok, Tuesday, August 7.
The government has set ships, large buses and additional aircraft for the evacuation process. From the Bangsal port, the tourists will be escorted to Bali. Those who want to board a flight will be delivered to Lombok Praya Airport and be given facilities at the airport.

Dozens of Damri buses have been passing by bringing foreign tourists to the airport and to the Mataram city, all of which are free of charge, as quoted by Antara.
Previously, the Tourism Ministry has prepared various modes of transportation to facilitate at least 1,000 tourists and local residents to get out of Gili Islands, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), after the earthquake.
“Until 2:30 (Lombok time), as many as 358 tourists consisting of 208 foreign tourists and 150 domestic tourists have been evacuated,” Tourism Minister Arief Yahya said on Monday, August 7. He hopes to be able to evacuate 1,000 more tourists and Gili Islands residents as soon as possible.
