TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police Chief General Tito Karnavian asked every member of the public to support the police in securing the upcoming 18th Asian Games. He went on to say that non-supporters could be viewed as traitors.
“This is related to the country’s namesake, every citizen must contribute. At least help preserve the event, not supporting it means you have betrayed the nation,” said Tito at the PTIK Auditorium in South Jakarta today, August 7.
According to Tito, the police have prepared anticipative measures toward four main issues that include terrorism, traffic jam, street crimes, and wildfires.
So far, according to Tito, the Metro Jaya Police have arrested hundreds of terrorist suspects and thousands of street criminals. As for traffic flow, police’s traffic management unit is continuously working hand-in-hand with the Jakarta Administration to conduct several scenarios related to the Asian Games’ athlete escort.
Tito Karnavian added that all of the efforts aforementioned would not succeed if the society as a whole does not support the 2018 Asian Games that will be opened in August 18.
