TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan stated that during the 2018 Asian Games, Jakarta residents could ride the Transjakarta bus for free, 1750 units will be provided for the residents, 350 units for the athletes.
“On Saturdays and Sundays, the Transjakarta bus rides are free of charge, for all routes,” said Anies Baswedan at Monas, Central Jakarta, Sunday, 5 August.
Head of Greater Jakarta Transportation Agency (BPTJ) Bambang Prihartono said the regional administration has prepared the addition of 204 Transjakarta buses for the community affected by the odd-even policy.
As many as 107 Transjakarta buses for the route to the competition arena, 40 buses from the hotel to the arena, 10 buses for the route from Soekarno-Hatta Airport to the arena, and 41 buses for tourism (athletes and officials).
The buses from the airport to the arena and from the hotel to the arena are provided by the Ministry of Transportation. Meanwhile, the Transjakarta buses are provided by the Jakarta Administration.
Bambang said that the provision of hundreds of buses was part of three transportation policies for the Asian Games. The three policies are traffic engineering management, provision of public transport, and regulation of freight traffic.
