TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Director of State-owned vaccine producer Bio Farma Rahman Roestan, announced the company's commitment to pay extra attention to halal certified vaccines that comply with the guaranteed halal product (JPH) law.

"Bio Farma is concerned towards the application of the JPH Law. We have prepared documents on products that are set to be listed [under the JPH]," said Rahman in Jakarta on Friday, August 3, 2018.

Rahman explained that the company is in the process of applying for the halal certificate for vaccines produced by the company. The certification process is being conducted in stages because some of the vaccine components need to be imported and must be accompanied by documents regarding the component.

"Some vaccines have been registered. I need to repeat that the process is not easy and cannot be conducted quickly, because it is very complex," Rahman explained.

Bio Farma is currently developing its own MR vaccine that is scheduled to be completed by the year 2020 and 2024. This strategy was conducted to prevent any non-halal animal substances that get mixed into the vaccine.
