TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) demanded access of CCTV or surveillance cameras in all detention centers in a bid to tighten its supervision following the reveal of luxury facilities in Sukamiskin Prison.
“We deem that one of the effective ways is to get the access to all CCTV in prisons,” said KPK deputy commissioner Basaria Panjaitan in his office, Friday, July 27.
According to Basaria, during the revitalization process towards the prison management, many things should be discussed with related stakeholders including the budget and facility.
Earlier, KPK disclosed the alleged graft case involving Sukamiskin Prison warden head Wahid Husein. The anti-graft body suspected Wahid of receiving a bribe from a corruption convict Fahmi Darmawansyah for luxury facilities and the exit permits.
Basaria said the incident was a reminder for KPK to further keep an eye to all detention centers. “This is a momentum to conduct evaluation together,” he added.
