TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- State airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP2) president director Muhammad Awaluddin asked for all ground handling equipment audited after an AirAsia bus caught fire at the apron of Terminal 3 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

"Not just the ground handling at Soekarno-Hatta, but in all airports managed by Angkasa Pura II," Awaluddin said in Monday, July 16.

A thorough check on ground-handling equipment, such as buses, he said, is part of the safety campaign.

When asked about what caused the lower-deck bus to catch fire, Awaluddin said AP2 was still waiting for investigative reports from the airport's authority. However, he acknowledged that similar incidents had happened before.

The bus used to transport AirAsia passengers of Terminal 3 caught fire on Saturday evening, July 14.

The airport's Security Rescue & Fire Senior Manager, Tommy Bawono, said the fire was immediately put out, so the incident had no impact on airport activities.

Meanwhile, AirAsia Indonesia ensured there were no victims in the incident.

"When it happened, the bus was empty," AirAsia Indonesia head of communications Baskoro Adiwiyono told Tempo
