TEMPO.CO, Bojonegoro - The prices for chicken and non-broiler chicken eggs experienced a sudden climb in Bojonegoro regency, allegedly due to the ongoing cold weather that is affecting chickens' health.
Chicken prices at several traditional markets in Bojonegoro, such Banjarejo, Besar Kota, and Sumberejo reach Rp38,000 from the normal Rp29,000-Rp30,000 per kilogram. Egg prices, meanwhile, rose from Rp20,000 to Rp28,000 per kilogram.
The increase in chicken and egg prices in July's beginning is higher than that of Eid this year.

Bojonegoro Trade Agency head Agus Hariyana said Mondah the price hike ensued from the late distribution of eggs and chicken into the regency's markets.
Chicken farmers and suppliers of non-broiler chicken eggs have lamented the drop in their chickens' productivity due to the cold weather.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said the recent aphelion phenomena had not significantly affected Indonesia’s climate, and that the cold weather was mainly caused by the high vapor in the atmosphere over several Indonesian regions.
