Transport Ministry Fire Incident,Permit Process Continue Normally

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) ensured the employee activity and a number of permit process will continue normally as usual. Today, the Karya Building in the Kemenhub complex was on fire and has to be temporarily closed.
“Currently, we are doing a consolidation so that tomorrow we can conduct activities as normal as possible,” said the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transportation Djoko Sasono in a press conference at the Ministry of Transportation, Jakarta, Sunday, July 8.

Karya Building was only used for workspace employees. While the space for the permit related to Kemenhub is located at Cipta Building located adjacent. Cipta Building is lucky that it was not burned by the fire from Karya Building.
The Karya Building in Kemenhub was burned on Sunday, July 8, at 4:10 am. According to the firefighters, there are three victims died due to lack of oxygen and were surrounded by the smoke.
From the interim report, the fire was known to appear around 03:30 am. At that time, the security officer who was on duty immediately extinguished the electrical panel located on the first floor of Karya Building after knowing about the fire.
Djoko did not know yet whether Kemenhub employees can use part of the Karya Building that was not burned by the fire. He is still coordinating with the police related to which rooms can already be given access to use and which are not. “What is certain for now, we want to be clear what is the cause of this disaster,” said Djoko.
