TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nurkoyah (47) binti Marsan Dasan, an Indonesian migrant worker (TKI) hailing from Rengasdengklok, Karawang, had to spend eight years to prove her innocence in the murder case of her employer's baby. Upon her exoneration by the court, Nurkoyah is now set to file a retaliation suit for compensation money.
According to Nurkoyah's lawyer, Mish'al Al Shareef, after his client is free, she is entitled to a compensation calculated from how long she was in jail. The lawsuit will be filed soon after Al Shareef arrives in Saudi Arabia after delivering Nurkoyah to her family in Karawang on July 4.

Regarding the amount of compensation money that will be accepted by Nurkoyah, the Director of Indonesian Citizens Protection and BHI Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, said the nominal amount has not been calculated. While working for the family of Khalid Al-Busyail, Nurkoyah has no problem with the payment.

"If a person is accused of a criminal offense and is not proven, then she/he may take a lawsuit and we have proceeded to file the lawsuit in the form of compensation money. This is a very important aspect," said Iqbal, Friday, July 6.
With the lawsuit filing, Iqbal ensures that Nurkoyah's legal case was not closed. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nurkoyah's lawyers will seek until the compensation is fulfilled.
