TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo attended Friday an international livestock exhibition dubbed the 2018 Indo Livestock at the Jakarta Convention Center.
Jokowi visited a number of booths in the exhibition, in which more than 550 participants from 40 countries took part. "Indo Livestock, this livestock exhibition that illustrates how the livestock in our country is growing fast," said Jokowi after walking around the exhibition area for about an hour.
In the exhibition, the president was impressed by the post-slaughtered process products, such as nuggets and sausages. He said the products had begun to be impoted to Japan, Vietnam and Malaysia. "I think this is a leap in the livestock industry," he said.
Jokowi hoped the export of post-slaughtered products could improve the current balance of trade deficit.
In the visit, Jokowi was also impressed by one of the businessmen who struggled in the chicken farm business. The new company, he said, was able to produce 100,000 DOC Kampong chickens in a month. In fact, said Jokowi, the Kampong chicken was expected to disappear from the market.

"It turns out that the production was increasing because there are companies operating in that field, this is a new company, but the production is 100,000 per month," he said.
In the field of fisheries, Jokowi learned about a microbubble technology that could jack up harvest in fish ponds.
"I think we will continue to develop things like this, because whatever our needs in the livestock industry there are still a lot of opportunities that can be used by the business community and the society," Jokowi said.
