TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's public information chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Iqbal said the bomb that exploded Thursday in Pasuruan, East Java, was a low-explosive fish bomb.

"Low explosive, even the ceiling of the house did not collapse," Iqbal said at the National Police headquarters in Jakarta on Friday, July 6.

The police made the conclusion after its Gegana (bomb squad) team dismantled the bomb. Iqbal said the perpetrator, Ahmad Abdul Robbani a.k.a Abu Ali alias Anwardi, was assembling the bomb when it suddenly exploded and injured his six-year-old son.

Abu Ali is a former terror convict in a bike-bomb case at the Kalimalang Police Station, East Jakarta, who had served five years' imprisonment at the Cipinang Penitentiary from 2010-2015. While behind the bars, Abu Ali is known to be close with other terror convicts.

After his release, Abu Ali spent much of his time alone and attended a study organized by Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) Pasuruan. The police are now still in search of Abu Ali.

On Thursday, July 5, two explosions with an interval of five minutes were heard from a house rented by Abu Ali in Pogar, Bangil, Pasuruan, East Java. Abu Ali, donning a backpack, managed to flee on a motorbike. A third explosion then took place on a nearby street.

The bomb injured Abu Ali's six-year-old son, who is now hospitalized. The police are still investigating Abu Ali's wife.
