Police Name Suspect of Mako Brimob Prison Riot

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police`s Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) Chief Insp. Gen. Ari Dono Sukmanto has named suspects of the riot in the Police`s Mobile Brigade headquarters or Mako Brimob Kelapa Dua, Depok, West Java.

“Ask Densus 88 [anti-terrorism squad] for the names,” said Ari at his office in Gambir, Central Jakarta, today, July 4.

Ari was reluctant to further mentioned the names or the initials of the suspect behind the prison riot at Mako Brimob. The law proceeding is underway until now.

The riot in Mako Brimob detention center broke out on May 8, 2018. The initial cause was said to spark by trivial matter involving foods. During the 36 hours riot, five police officers were kidnapped and killed as well as one terrorist convict.

Four of officers were Densus 88 personnel namely First Insp. Yudi Rospuji Siswanto, Brig. Fandi Setyo Nugroho, First Brig. Syukron Fadhli, First Brig. Wahyu Catur Pamungkas, while Adj. Second Insp. Denny Setiadi was a Jakarta Police officer on duty.

As many as 145 terrorist inmates involving in the Mako Brimob riot surrendered and were moved to Nusa Kambangan Prison, Central Java. The other 10 terrorist convicts were arrested for investigation purposes.
