TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism Ministry’s Public Communication Bureau head Guntur Sakti stated cultural team of Al-Izhar Pondok Labu, Jakarta would present five traditional dances in inter-cultural festival Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, in Wales, England on July 3-8, 2018.

As many as 5,000 singers, dancers, and musicians from across 50 countries would attend the festival, said Guntur Sakti in Jakarta, Sunday, June 24.

To compete in this international level, Al-Izhar team had made preparations to meet global standards including the costumes, choreography, music, and the team collaboration for the performance, Guntur added.

The traditional dances to be presented were Kipah Dance from Aceh, Belibis Dance from Bali, Muda-Mudi Dance fro Papua, Nagekeo Bangkit Dance from Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, and Mirah Dance from Batavia.

The choreographer from Gema Citra Nusantara Studio Mira Arismunandar stated the decision of the five dances was based on research and consultation from many experts in advance. “The dances are not created carelessly. We have conducted earlier research and consult the choreography to many experts before train it to Al-Izhar students,” said Mira.

Al-Izhar director Arniyani Arifin explained the team departure would not merely for competition but also aimed at nurturing the love towards traditional cultures. “Through the dance festival, students will bring the good name of Indonesia abroad,” said Arniyani.
