TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A suspected terrorist was shot dead by the Densus 88 anti-terror police on Saturday last week. The suspect, AAW (31), was shot when riding his motorcycle in Depok.
AAW's neighbors were shocked by what happened. Bambang, the neighborhood chief of his area of residence, said AAW was a newcomer to the area, and not many people in the neighborhood knew him.
Bambang said AAW had only been living for four months, renting a house at Neglasari Village, Dramaga sub-district, Bogor Regency.
Bambang said that during the time AAW lived in the rented house, he and his wife were shut-ins and never interacted with locals. He said that he tried to visit the couple several time but they were never home.
"I only met his wife, who told me that her husband always came home late from work," he said.
He added that he had repeatedly asked for copies of the couple ID cards, but they never gave them to him.
"To this day, she always gave excuses for not giving me copies of their IDs. She said that her husband worked selling books," Bambang said.
