TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing admitted that the implementation of a payment integration system on the Jakarta Outer Ring Road (JORR) Toll Road would harm a group of users. There is only 38 percent of road users who will pay more.
“This is a close-range user,” said Director General of Highways PUPR Arie Setiadi Moerwanto in a written statement in Jakarta, Saturday, June 23. This statement was delivered in the middle of a polemic about the implementation of integration that is still ongoing.
Even so, the number of road users who get the benefit is much larger, that is 61 to 62 percent. This group, said Arie, is the long-distance toll road users who usually make toll payments more than once.
“Get the benefit for paying a cheaper rate than before,” he said.
Previously, the implementation of the official toll road integration was postponed for the second time on June 20, as it claimed to be lack of socialization. The plan of toll road efficiency payment turns out to be considered by the society as a tariff increase only.
The efficiency of payment has been submitted by PUPR through a new tariff list for toll users. Tariff details of JORR Toll after the integration for the vehicle class 1 is Rp15,000. Then for the vehicles class 2 and 3 are Rp22,500. Last, for the class 4 and 5 are Rp30,000.
Arie said that the existence of toll roads should be reserved for long-distance users and logistic transport. Users at close-range can use the arterial road that will continue to be improved quality.
In addition, he said, JORR Toll integration is also not done to boost the revenue of toll management or Toll Road Agency (BUJT). Moreover, the income from the BUJT remains routinely reported to the Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono as a transparency for the community.
“This integration is to improve the service of road users,” he said.
