TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run railway operator PT KAI is still providing additional trains for the 2018 Eid homecoming and reverse exodus until Tuesday, June 26.
“The additional trains will be prepared from June 5 to June 26,” said the senior manager of PT KAI Regional Operation (Daop) I Jakarta, Edy Kuswoyo, in Jakarta on Friday, June 22.
PT KAI adds 15 additional trains at Gambir Station to the existing 32 regular trains with destinations to Cirebon, Bandung, Solo, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Cilacap and Malang. PT KAI also adds 8 extra trains to the existing 26 trains at Pasar Senen Station.

Until June 22, the number of passengers departing Gambir Station reached 14,213 passengers, while arrival number was higher with 18,254 passengers.
The number of passengers departing from Pasar Senen Station till June 22, meanwhile, was 20,219, while that of arrivals hit 23,010 passengers.
However, not all of the seats from the additional trains were purchased by the public until the Eid mass leave ended—some additional trains were even canceled due to the lack of passengers.
According to PT KAI's data, up till June 22 at 08:00 a.m., the total capacity of the 15 additional trains for departure at Gambir Station was 13,994 seats, yet only 2,630 seats sold.
