Prabowo Calls Public to Donate Funds for Gerindra in Election

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As the Chairman of Indonesia`s opposition party Gerindra, Prabowo Subianto called for party members and general supporters to help fund the party`s operational spending for its participation in the simultaneous regional election of 2018.
Prabowo mentioned it in a 20 minute video uploaded to his personal Facebook account. He dubbed it as the ‘galang perjuangan’ program.
Gerindra Deputy Chairman Ferry Julianto confirmed that the program does actually exists and revealed that this strategy has previously been used; in the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election last year.

“It was proven in the Jakarta election, many people outside of the family of party's internal members has contributed [to the funding],” said Ferry today, June 22.
Furthermore, in the video, Prabowo seems to call for assistance to monitor the voting booths every location during the simultaneous regional election, such as in West Java, East Java, West Java,” he continued.
Prabowo said that his party cannot cling on hopes to its party members for funds, considering that Gerindra members mostly consist of people that are less fortunate financially.
“This is the reason why I designed a program that is meant to rally electoral funds from members and people in general that I call Galang Perjuangan,” he said.
Prabowo said that he prefers to request financial assistance to members of the public rather than pursuing the country’s elite groups. “I refuse to come to fund sources that in the end makes me wonder if they are loyal or not to the nation,” said Prabowo Subianto.
