Syamsudin Noor Airport`s Extra Flight Reaches 51 Aircraft

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of additional or extra flights provided by Syamsudin Noor Airport Authority, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, until D+3 of 2018 Eid Day or on Monday, June 18, there were recorded 51 aircraft from several airlines.

Airport Operation and Service Dept Head Syamsudin Noor Airport Ruly Artha said the number of extra flights started on D-8 or Thursday, 7 June.

“During the eight days before and three days after Eid Day as many as 51 extra flights submitted by the airline, we approved," he said in Banjarbaru, Wednesday, June 20.

He said the dozens of extra flights consisted of 26 flights from Syamsudin Noor Airport to other airports and 25 flights from outside the area to the local airport.

It is mentioned that the destinations of extra flights opened are dominated by Lion Air, namely Juanda Airport (Surabaya) and Adi Sucipto Airport (Yogyakarta), which has quite a lot of homecomers.

"The two airports are the destination of most travelers compared to other airports, so Lion Air airline opens an extra flight up to dozens of times," he said.

According to Ruly who is also Head of Integrated Posts Eid Transportation Syamsudin Noor Airport, in 2018, the number of passengers departed increased 11.19 percent and arrived increased 5.76 percent.

"If taken by the average increase in the number of passengers departing or arriving by 8.96 percent compared to the number of passengers in the same period in 2017," he said.
