TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Communication and Informatics Minister Rudianta, said that radical content in social media has declined in number during the month of Ramadan. Rudiantara said that the ministry has blocked an average of 50 accounts per day during Ramadan, a number much lower compared to the 500 blocks per day it made in the previous month.
Rudiantara added that 48 percent of the blocked contents are originated from Facebook and Instagram. "We have blocked 4,000 accounts from Facebook and Instagram," Rudiantara said on June 15, 2018.
Until today, 20,000 accounts have been blocked for displaying radical, extreme, and terrorism-related content. Rudiantara said that his team will continue to sweep similar accounts more intensively.
"We will increase the [sweeping] frequency to once every 2 hours," the Minister said.
Despite the drop, Rudiantara said that the ministry will continue to cooperate with the police in monitoring accounts containing radical contents.
"Police made the arrest in the real world. We patrolled the digital world," he said.
