TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly said that remission is granted on Eid Al-Fitr is a form of appreciation to inmates' good behavior during their time in prison.
"[The remission] is granted as a form of personal achievement reflected by [the inmates] daily behavior and obedience during their imprisonment, more discipline, more productive, and more dynamic," Yasonna said on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
As previously reported, the Law and Human Rights Minister provide special remission to 80,430 inmates across the country. As many as 446 inmates will be immediately released due to the remission, while the remaining 79,984 still needs to spend their time in prison.

In a statement released by the ministry, the remission can help save more than Rp 32 billion budget on food.
Minister Yasonna also said to the inmates to keep up their faith and to become law-abiding individuals, and to contribute to the country's development.
