TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Religious Affairs Ministry will hold isbat (confirmation) meeting to decide the first day of Syawal 1439 H or Eid al-Fitr on Thursday, June 14, 2018, at the ministry building. The ministry spokesperson Mastuki said the meeting process will commence at 16:30 pm.
“The ministry’s team of Rukyat (observing the new moon) and Hisab (reckoning) will first report the position of the hilal (new moon) of Syawal 1439 H,” Matsuki noted in a written statement today, adding that the report comes from 97 monitoring locations throughout Indonesian regions.
Mastuki stated Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin will then announce the decision of Eid in a press conference after the isbat meeting that will start after the dusk prayer.
Other than Religious Affairs Ministry’s officials, the meeting will present many ambassadors of neighboring countries, the House’s religious commission, the Supreme Court, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), and the Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) will attend the isbat meeting.
In addition, National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN), the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG), Bosscha Observatory of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Planetarium and Observatory, and astronomy experts will also attend the isbat meeting tomorrow to decide the day of 2018 Eid al-Fitr.
