TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mount Agung, Bali again erupted today morning at 11:05 local times. The volcanic mountain spewed 2-kilometer ash column.
“Mount Agung, Bali has erupted on June 13, 2018 at 11:05 local times with ash column height at some 2,000 meters (some 5,142 meters above sea level),” as quoted in the official statement of the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, Geology Agency, and Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center (PVMBG) for Mount Agung today.
The grey and thick ash column were seen flowing to the southwest and west. The seismic recorded the maximum amplitude at 25 mm for some 2 minutes and 12 seconds. Mount Agung is now at Alert Status (Level III).
The ministry released some recommendation. The public in the area, local residents, hikers or tourists, is forbidden to climbing the mountain and doing any activities within 4 km from the mountain crater.
The residents living at around the river stream heading on the mountain should stay alert the potential threat such as lava flowing that likely occur during the rainy season and if the eruption material remained to expose at the mountain peak.
Many eruptions occurred since Mount Agung erupted on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 17:05 local times. Due to the eruption, PVMBG increased the status from Orange to Red code. Several airlines also canceled the flight to Ngurah Rai airport, Bali.
