19 Night Entertainment Must Stop Operating during Ramadan, Eid

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) imposes disciplinary action against 19 night entertainment spots in Ramadan and Eid for violating the administrative regulations.
“The violation of the operational hours,” said the head of Satpol PP Yani Wahyu in Senayan area, Central Jakarta, Tuesday, June 12.
To the violators, Yani Wahyu said, have been given a warning letter. After the specified time, the nightspots can be re-operated in accordance with its business license.
The Circular Letter No. 17/SE/2018 issued by the Department of Jakarta Tourism and Culture, has specified the operational hours of night entertainment spots in Jakarta. The letter refers to Governor Regulation No. 18/2018 on the Implementation of Tourism Enterprises.
Based on the circular letter, the nightspots must be closed for seven days; include one day before Ramadan, the first day of Ramadan, the night of Nuzulul Quran, the night of the last day of Ramadan, the first and second day of Eid al-Fitr and one day after Eid.
“The seven days are mandatory, without exception, all night entertainment spots must be closed,” he said.
The regulation, Yani Wahyu said, applies to bars outside the hotel, nightclubs, discotheques, spa, massage parlors, and manual dexterity games arena for adults.
But the operational hours do not apply to the night entertainment places attached to at least four-star hotels. Meanwhile, karaoke places can still operate during Ramadan with one condition.
“[The karaoke places] should not sell alcohol,” Yani Wahyu said.
