TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) central executive board (DPP) chairwoman Tsamara Amany said she was concerned over the possibilities that the regeneration of female politicians in the country would lack as women were more likely to be harassed on social media.
Tsamara gave an example of PSI chair Grace Natalie, who was harassed in social media by a Twitter account going by the name "Hulk", which Tsamara claimed could cause women to think twice before engaging in politics.
“This is not just about reputation for us, but also resistance against slanders that saturate our democracy,” said Tsamara at the Jakarta Metro Police Special Crime Investigation Directorate today.

Tsamara said that her action was a gesture of defense for female politicians so that potential female politicians in the future would not hesitate to take part in politics.
Tsamara added social media as a public space would be tainted by accounts like Hulk if there was no action taken against them.
Earlier, Hulk_idn accused Grace Natalie of having an affair with former Jakarta governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama.
