TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The traffic in several main roads and surrounding areas of Jakarta including in Jl. Sudirman, Jl. S Parman, and Jl. MH Thamrin was relatively normal on the first day of Eid joint leave, June 11 compared to the common days.
On today morning, public transportation users only spent 35 minutes heading to Jl. Thamrin, Jakarta Pusat, from Ciputat compared to common days at some 1.5 hours.
Jakarta Police’s Traffic Management Center (TMC) stated the traffic condition was reportedly normal in rest area KM 19 heading to Cikarang and TI Kalimalang Bekasi Cyber Park intersection as well as in Cikampek toll road, either from Bandung to Jakarta or vice versa despite some points congested such as in KM 14.
Earlier, Secretary General of Transportation Ministry Djoko Sasono estimated there will be several homecoming peaks this year considering the government added the joint leave of Eid al-Fitr for seven days starting June 11-14 and 18-20, 2018.
“The survey showed that the homecoming peak will occur on Saturday, and also on 2-3 days ahead of Eid,” said Djoko Sasono on Saturday, June 9.
