TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-run railway operator Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) will be officially launching its luxury-class sleeper train that will be coupled with the company’s existing Argo Anggrek train service.

KAI’s Cirebon public relations manager Krisbiyantoro explained that the luxury sleeper will start its maiden voyage tomorrow. “This train was previously tested and handed over to us by PT Inka on June 8,” said Krisbiyantoro today.

Tomorrow will see the KA Argo Anggrek paired with the sleeper luxury wagon and depart from Gambir Station in Jakarta to the Surabaya Pasarturi Station for a two-way trip.

Furthermore, each passenger of the luxury sleeper will be provided with luxury-grade features such as a 170 degree electrically declining seat, electric footrest, private entertainment that consists of a 12 inch TV and a pair of headsets, a USB power charging source, a foldable food tray, pillow and blanket, trash can, cup holder, shoe compartment, and a coat hanger.

“This exclusive service is on par with an airplane’s business class,” said Kris. Not only that, each of its passenger wagon is limited to accommodate 18 passengers. Sleeper train customers will also be provided with free meals and beverages.

Each ticket of the luxury sleeper train will cost up to Rp900,000 during the promotion price period that will last for the next whole month after its official introduction on June 12. Tickets can be ordered from numerous KAI ticket reservation channels starting from today.
