TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Democratic Party central board (DPP) for advocacy and legal aid division chairman Ferdinand Hutahaean confirmed the meeting plan between Democratic Party chair Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Gerindra Party chair Prabowo Subianto. He stated the meeting is currently being scheduled.
“The meeting between SBY and Prabowo is being scheduled and planned on talks about the possible coalition,” said Ferdinand in a message to Tempo on Sunday, June 10.
Earlier, several Gerindra politicians had mentioned the meeting plan. Gerindra deputy chairman Fadli Zon said SBY and Prabowo will likely meet after Eid al-Fitr holiday.
Gerindra Party central board (DPP) communication member Andre Rosiadi said the meeting will take place at Prabowo’s residence in Jl. Kertanegara, Jakarta. According to him, Prabowo previously visited SBY's residence in Puri Cikeas, Bogor in July last year.
Ferdinand said both parties’ officials will establish an earlier meeting. “Perhaps, both secretary generals will begin the talks until the meeting between SBY and Prabowo,” he said.
Despite the meeting preparation, Ferdinand asserted Democratic Party was uninterested to join community coalition initiated by Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab.
Ferdinand said Democratic Party will use people’s coalition as he deemed the community coalition was meant only for the Muslim community and did not embrace others groups.
