TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga ensures that all construction activities in the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road have been paused to support the movement of Eid`s homecoming starting today, June 8.
The termination of the project on the main access out of Jakarta is required on D-10 to D+10 of Eid al-Fitr or has started on June 5.
Jasa Marga's Corporate Secretary, Agus Setiawan, said that the company also pause the construction of Jakarta-Bandung and Jabodebek Light Rail Transit (LRT), and the periodic maintenance on the toll road.
"We have checked that all projects have been stopped. And there is no longer any periodic work such as overlaying (road); we are closed," he told Tempo on Thursday, June 7.
According to Agus, most of the heavy equipment has been moved out of Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. Currently, there are only a few units of project vehicles alerted to anticipate the physical problems during the homecoming period.
Agus assessed the termination of the project could increase the concentration of road users when passing by.
"So, the home-comers can focus when driving; not looking over (the construction work). When the project fence close to the road markings, it must be narrow, now it is freer because it is tidied up,” he said.
Jasa Marga Vice President of Operational Management, Bagus Cahya, said the termination would not cause the vehicle speed to increase dramatically since the volume of vehicles on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road is increased during the homecoming.
