TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia or BI has issued a license for electronic money or e-money based server on Wednesday, May 23, 2018. Of the five e-money that has been widely announced is the famous cleric Yusuf Mansur's PayTren.
"E-money permit has been issued for five applicants last week," said Head of Policy Department of BI Payment System Onny Widjanarko when contacted by Tempo on Thursday, May 31, 2018.
However, Onny said, it has not being officially announced to the public. "Later, when the operation is ready, we will announce it through BI's website," he told Tempo.
Previously, many e-money services were suspended because they have not pocketed permission as an electronic money issuer from BI. Some discontinued services include: BukaDompet (Bukalapak), TokoCash (Tokopedia), ShopeePay (Shopee), and GrabPay (Grab). Until this news is published, it is not known whether the big e-money players have received permission or not.

The new rules concerning electronic money are regulated in Bank Indonesia Regulation (PBI) Number 20/6 / PBI / 2018, which revises the previous rules, PBI No. 18/17 / PBI / 2016. The new rule is valid from May 4, 2018.
One of the policies contained in the PBI explains that the organizer of electronic money must obtain permission from BI, except for close loop electronic money with the amount of idle funds or float funds in electronic money of less than Rp 1 billion which is only mandatory report.
Yusuf Mansur, one of those applying for permission to publish on PayTren e-money service, said on May 22, BI's license on PayTren was signed. "On May 23, the letter was given (to us)," he said when contacted by Tempo on Thursday evening, May 31, 2018.
Therefore, on Friday, June 1, 2018, the famous cleric will relaunch PayTren. "On June 1, we will hold a launching," said Yusuf Mansur some time ago when asked about the planned launch of e-money PayTren it.
