Airport Train Passengers Predicted do Double during Eid Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport Train Station head Siswanto said the number of airport train passengers is expected to increase during the Eid holiday season.

“[The number of passengers is expected to] increase by 100 percent when compared to regular days,” he said on Thursday, May 31.

Siswanto revealed that the number of passengers on regular days could go as high as 2,000 people per day. Meanwhile, the number could jump to 3,500-4,000 passengers during the holiday season.

To anticipate the increase, the station operator will deploy 5 train sets or 30 carriages, with each set has a capacity of 272 passengers. Siswanto said the current seat occupancy rate is at 50 percent.

With 50 movements per day, Siswanto went on, the Airport train can provide maximum service with on time schedule.

The airport train station operator has also prepared various supporting facilities and security measures. Among the facilities are automatic ticketing machines and automatic boarding pass counters inside the station.
