TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Financial Minister Sri Mulyani claimed that Megawati Soekarnoputri’s salary as the chair of steering committee of the Agency for the Implementation of State Ideology of Pancasila (BPIP) is Rp5 million per month.

“The salary is Rp5 million, the job allowance is Rp13 million. Health insurance and life insurance goes to the allowance around Rp4 million to Rp5 million for transport and communication components,” Sri Mulyani said at Presidential Palace on Monday.

The minister said BPIP’s allowance is lower compared to other officials of states institution. The salary also includes allowances for transportation, communication, and official travel.

“The salary is same Rp5 million, but the job allowance varies. BPIP is the lowest compared to executives, judiciary, the legislative council that has more than Rp13 million,” Sri Mulyani said.

President Joko Widodo signed Presidential Decree (Perpres) No. 42 of 2018 on financial and facility rights for BPIP officials on May 23, 2018.

As quoted in the Presidential Decree (Perpres) No. 42/2018 that was downloaded from www.setneg.go.id on Monday, May 28, 2018, the salary for Megawati Soekarnoputri as the chair of the agency's steering committee of BPIP is Rp112,548,000 per month.

"If it is a Perpres, it is a permanent law. The agency is already established so the state should pay," said Sri Mulyani.

Through his Twitter account, Gerindra politician Fadli Zon criticized the salaries of BPIP members who he considers too big. He was comparing it to the salary of directors in state enterprises (BUMN).
