TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The new Star Wars film Solo: A Star Wars Story starring Alden Ehrenreich aired in Indonesian theaters starting this week.
This film is about the adventure of the iconic Han Solo whose character has been identical to the Oscar-winning actor Harrison Ford. Alden plays the young Han Solo.
"Solo: A Star Wars Story" is directed by Ron Howard, a director well known for his legendary films such as Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, and The Da Vinci Code.
Here are five interesting facts about the "Solo: A Star Wars Story" movie.
1. The film was initially directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street) but later was replaced by Ron Howard when the shooting schedule has 2 weeks left due to a different concept with producer Kathleen Kennedy and scriptwriter Lawrence Kasdan. Lord and Miller reportedly did too much improvisation that the "Solo: A Star Wars Story" tend to be a comedy.
2. Ron Howard did more than 80 percent of the whole film retake.
3. Alden Ehrenreich was the first actor to be auditioned for the role of young Han Solo.
4. Before directing Solo, Ron Howard was once offered to direct Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace (1999). At that time, Ron refused the offer.
5. Actor Michael Kenneth Williams from the "12 Years a Slave" and "Assassins Creed" once acted as Dryden Vos alongside with the duo director Phil Lord-Christopher Miller. However, he could not make it when Ron Howard did a re-shoot, so his role was replaced by Paul Bettany.
