TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) is preparing to provide Rp188.2 trillion cash money during the 2018 Eid holiday. This figure is greater than in last year's Eid, when the central bank provided Rp163.2 trillion.
BI deputy governor Rosmaya Hadi said a bigger amount of cash is prepared to anticipate public needs during the long holiday.
"We always prepare cash, although we have electronic money now, people still prefer to hold some cash," Rosmaya said here on Wednesday, May 23.
The government has decided that this year' Eid leave will be from June 11 to June 20.
Other banks that had prepared to increase their volume of cash include BCA and BNI. BNI official had also stated that the bank will stay open during the Eid leave, albeit with limited operations and services.
