TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - The police's counterterrorism squad Densus 88 has again arrested suspected terrorists in Sidoarjo and Probolinggo, East Java, on late Wednesday until early Thursday, May 16-17. Two of six suspected terrorists were shot to death.
“Five suspected terrorists have been nabbed and one other surrendered,” said East Java Police Chief Insp. Gen. Machfud Arifin to the reporters in East Java Police HQ, Thursday afternoon, May 17.
In Sidoarjo, Densus 88 arrested suspected terrorists in two locations on late Thursday. HS and BS were shot dead in AURI housing complex, and DL in Block G7 AL housing complex surrendered.
Meanwhile, in Probolinggo, Densus caught MF, IS, and HSA in Sumber Taman Indah Housing Complex, Sumbertaman, Wonoasih District. One of them was a civil servant in the local region.
Machfud mentioned in total, 23 suspected terrorists have been arrested by Densus 88 in East Java. Four of them were shot down for resisting the arrest.
Earlier, East Java Police Chief called on the public to surrender themselves should they are related to the series of terrorist attacks in Surabaya and Sidoarjo on last Sunday and Monday. “The police officers still investigate it to solve the case,” Machfud added.
