TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lawyer Trimoelja Darmasetia Soerjadi (Trimoelja D. Soerjadi), who was one of the lawyers for Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok in the blasphemy case, passed away. He died at the Darmo Family Partner Hospital, Surabaya on Thursday, May 17, at around 06:32 local time at the age of 77 years.

“Yes, he had been sick,” said his fellow advocate, Teguh Samudera, when contacted by Tempo, Thursday, May 17.

Soerjadi was an Indonesian veteran advocate who often calls himself a rural lawyer. He was born in Surabaya, 7 January 1939, graduated from the Faculty of Law Airlangga University in 1979.

His name as a lawyer became popular when Soerjadi and his advocate colleagues handle the murder case of a factory worker named Marsinah in 1993.

Marsinah is a laborer at a wristwatch factory owned by PT Catur Putra Surya. She died mysteriously and the culprit has not been captured until now.

Soerjadi, in 1994, represented Tempo filing a lawsuit against the Minister of Information Harmoko at the Jakarta Administrative Court in relation to the revocation of the magazine's Press Publishing Business License.

Soerjadi was also a member of lawyer team for the editor-in-chief of Tempo Magazine Bambang Harymurti who was accused of defaming Tommy Winata in 2003.

An observer and a friend of Trimoelja D. Soerjadi, Singky Soewadji said, the deceased would be buried in Ngagel Public Cemetery in Surabaya today.
