Anies Baswedan Waits for DPRD Approval to Divest Beer Shares

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan ensured he will divest 26.25 percent of the city`s shares on beer company PT Delta Jakarta. The divestment fund will later be used for the development. “On average, the dividend per year is Rp38 billion,” said Anies in the City Halls, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 16.
Anies hoped the sale of 26.25 percent shares could add the city’s revenue up to more than Rp1 trillion. The fund will later be allocated to open job employment, build education facility, and establish health programs. “So, there will be many programs of public welfare that could be created using the funds,” he added.

The share divestment, Anies said, is still awaiting the permit of Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD). “The process requires DPRD approval, we will later send the letter and go through the process,” he said.
Anies Baswedan optimistic DPRD will agree on the plan of the city administration to let go the beer company share. “Insha Allah, it will be approved,” he hoped.
