Surabaya Bombing, Minister: the Bombers Hold No Religious Values

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin deplored the bombing incident in the Surabaya church that occurred close to the great day of Christian and ahead of the month of Ramadan.
According to Lukman, acts of terror contradict religious values.
"The bombers are people who do not hold religious values because no religion teaches terrorism," Lukman said in a written broadcast on Sunday, May 13.

Lukman appealed to the public to remain calm and to be positive. He asked the public to fully hand over the matter to the authorities.
“Stay calm and do not panic because panic is what the bomber wanted, let's together increase the environmental awareness so there is no room for terrorists to perform the action," he said.

He also invited the community to communicate ethically in social media. For example, Lukman said, not spreading distressing photographs that could become a terror of its own and do not comment on acts of bombing with debates that spark conflict.
Lukman also prayed for the dead victims and the abandoned families to be given fortitude.
"Let us pray for the bomber and the mastermind of this action to repent and return to the right path," he said.
