Sandiaga Uno Urges Public to Avoid Conducting Suhoor on the Road

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno reminds the citizens of Jakarta to avoid holding the recurring road event called `suhoor on the road` during the Ramadan since it often attracts road accidents.
Suhoor is an Islamic term referring to the mealtime done early before dawn by Muslims before fasting. Meanwhile, suhoor on the road is basically a reason for several people to organize convoys on public streets during suhoor.

“We will prepare several locations for the people who want to share fast-breaking or suhoor meals which will be concentrated in Mosques,” said the Deputy Governor at the Istiqlal Mosque today, May 8. Sandiaga Uno also plans to invite the public to be more active in performing religious practices at Mosques during the month of Ramadan.
According to Sandiaga Uno, doing good deeds does not mean that people should conduct suhoor on the road. He insists that the same can be done through the city’s Mosques. “Young people are eager to gather with friends. Now is the time to gather at Mosques,” he said.
