Indonesian President Jokowi (White shirt) and the Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan are seen checking up on the Athlete Guesthouse at Kemayoran for the Asian Paragames 2018 athletes.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan reminded golf course management to avoid raising its tariff after the Jakarta Administration revoked the golf course tax cut. Anies argued that the cut had initially never lowered the cost of the golf course.

“Don’t use it (the tax cut revocation), once it's effective, as a reason to increase the cost to play golf, because the costs had never been reduced,” said Anies at an integrated child-friendly public space (RPTRA) in Johar Baru, Central Jakarta on today, May 8.

Previously, Anies Baswedan announced that he will revoke Governor’s Decree No. 141/2014 on golf course land and building tax (PBB) cuts. The decree was introduced on September 16, 2014, under the former Governor Joko Widodo.

The decree stated that golf course is subjected to a 50 percent tax cut since it also acts as the city’s open green space (RTH) and water absorption areas.

However, Anies said that the tax cut policy was not appropriate since he argued that golf course need large amounts of water to maintain and manage.

“So giving the golf courses a 50 percent cut does not correlate with the desire to provide space for water retention area,” said Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.
