TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Election Supervisory Board or Bawaslu Jakarta found an indication of violation done by the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) in an advertisement published in Jawa Pos newspaper on April 23.
Bawaslu Jakarta's Head of legal division and violation handling Puadi said the violation was related to the alleged out-of-scheduled campaign. He believed that PSI is indicated for violating the campaign rules because the ads showed the logo and party's serial number as the election's participant.
"We assume there is a criminal indictment allegation. Therefore, we are still investigating," he said at the Bawaslu Jakarta office, Wednesday, May 2.
In addition, Puadi mentioned that PSI advertisement featuring an alternate vice-presidential candidate and cabinet minister for President Joko Widodo or Jokowi for the 2019 election.
According to Puadi, the advertisement would not be considered violating if it only displayed photos of presidents, alternate vice presidents, and ministers according to the PSI poll.
PSI Deputy Secretary-General Satia Chandra said he would undergo all proceedings in Bawaslu related to the alleged violation of his party.
Satia insisted the ad was made not for his party's campaign. The ad was made to present an alternative vice president and minister in President Jokowi's cabinet in the upcoming period.
"We want to involve the public," he said.
According to Satia, the installation of party logo is not only done by PSI. In Cawang, East Jakarta, Satia claimed to see the NasDem Party advertisement with the slogan "NasDem is My Party, Jokowi is My President".
Based on the Law No. 7 of 2017 on the Implementation of General Elections, Bawaslu found indications of criminal violations in PSI ads, said Puadi.
