Designer: Jokowi`s Denim Jacket Sold at Market Imitation

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The owner of Nevertoolavish custom service, Bernhard Suryaningrat, through his Instagram account @hardthirteen said the denim jacket of President Joko Widodo or Jokowi recently circulated at the market is imitation. He said his team had not produced the jacket en masse.

"Until now, we do not sell/reproduce the artwork on the denim jacket used by Mr. President, so if anything is sold by others, we declare it as the imitation and not fabricated by us or upon our permission," Bernhard wrote on his Instagram Stories status, Monday, May 1.

Bernhard also said he would soon officially release the jacket through Jokowi's son Instagram business accounts; Gibran Rakabuming, @chilipari, and @tugasnegarabos. The jacket will use the basic materials from the local denim manufacturer, @ayedenim.

"(It will be sold) through our online selling platform. As for the procedure of purchase, please regularly check our Instagram account @nevertoolavish," wrote Bernhard.

Previously, Bernhard told Tempo that he would not reproduce the jacket worn by Jokowi since his team wanted to make the jacket exclusive for the number one person in Indonesia. However, if the demand is high, he plans to re-produce similar jackets but with different designs.
