TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Manpower Hanif Dhakiri claims that the job opportunities created during the current administration under President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Vice President Jusuf Kalla has far exceeded its initial target of creating 10,000 jobs within five years.
Hanif further explained that the number of jobs and job placements throughout various fields in 2014 was 2.6 million, meanwhile in 2015 saw the government increase it to 2.8 million. Then in 2016 that number went down to 2.4 million and slightly increased to 2.6 million in 2017.
“If that number is accumulated, there has been 10.4 million jobs created, which exceeds the target,” said Hanif in Kemang, South Jakarta on Saturday evening, April 29.
Furthermore, minister Hanif stated that Indonesia’s unemployment level is at its all-time lowest of 5.5 percent. “The lowest we’ve had since entering the reformation era,” said Hanif.
The number of unemployment is predicted to be able to be reduced by 5.3 percent, based on the draft revision state budget (RAPBN). A slightly lower number compared to the country’s 2017 State Budget (APBN).
