1. Ice pick
This type of acne scars has the longest time to be treated as the sore has entered the skin dermis layers. The scar happens because of the skin inflammation that creates a huge, empty pore. Ice pick can be treated through punch-out excision method in which the skin dermis is replaced to a new one.
2. Box scar
Box scar usually happens during the inflamed acne that destroys the collagen. As the name suggests, the scar looks like a box. Even though the sore is not deep as ice pick scar, box scar can be clearly seen. The punch-out excision method, dermal filler, or laser resurfacing can treat this scar.
3. Rolling scar
This scar usually happens during the inflamed acne in a long time. Unlike ice pick and box scar, the rolling scar makes the skin looks wavy. This scar can be looked clearer as you get older. To treat this scar, people commonly use laser treatment or facial filler.
4. Hyperpigmentation
This type of scar does not cause a wound but it gives the skin pigment or the color changes. Generally, hyperpigmentation occurs due to skin inflammation that causes the production of too much melanin. Applying sunblock regularly is essential to treat this scar.
5. Hypertrophic scar
This type of scar is known as a keloid. It looks like small mounds in a dark color. The hypertrophic scar can be treated by an injection of steroid or laser treatment.
