Operator Claims Komodo National Park Has Been Managed Well

TEMPO.CO, Kupang - The head of Komodo National Park Budi Kurniawan claimed the underwater ecosystem in the Komodo tourism area has been managed well. “We always protect the waters,” he said in Kupang when contacted on Monday, April 23.
He denied the accusation delivered by England-based media The Guardian noting the ecosystem of the undersea in Komodo National Park has slowly damaged. Budi also lamented that the news did not specify the location point.
“If it is true, we will inspect it,” Budi asserted.
Budi explained there are more than 40 diving points around Komodo National Park that have been well monitored by the sea patrols. According to him, the damaged that was pointed out might be the condition from ten years ago when the community had not yet understand about the conservation.
As reported earlier, the head of Indonesian travel companies association (ASITA) of East Nusa Tenggara Abed Frans revealed issues of waste in Komodo National Park area was highlighted by UNESCO. He noted many tourists diving in the area found trashes under the waters which they assessed contrast to previous years.
Budi asserted the waters and islands in Komodo National Park has been well managed and the operator constantly disseminated the diving zone either to the fishermen or tourists.
Furthermore, Budi added the officials is currently drafting the regulation regarding the carrying capacity and the application of the online system to anticipate the excess amount of visitors.
